This body of paintings reflect upon virtual space and the precarious nature of the tools we use to navigate and describe it. In the digital realm, patterns of movement, consumerism and communication may be distilled, filtered, and analysed. Koops’ work considers how these metrics translate into forms and the manner in which these incomplete portraits are lodged within larger mosaics of information. 3D computer models similar to those found in CAD plans of apartments and IKEA product shots, are starting points for these works. These immaterial objects are then dragged backward through the analogue and material process of oil painting.
